Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has admitted that the club’s chances of success next season may rest on performing well in the summer transfer market.

The Scot is expected to have money available to reshape his side when the transfer window reopens, and Dalglish is under no illusions about the importance of buying the right players.

"Every football club after May knows where they stand", Dalglish said to Liverpool’s official site.

"You know what you need and there’s always going to be business to be done. If you do good business, you’ve more chance of being successful."

But Dalglish also added that it was not just about moves in the transfer market and those players already at the club must be developed.

"That doesn’t just mean buying players and letting players go, it’s about developing what else you have. This summer is going to be very important."
