Chelsea full back-cum-winger Yuri Zhirkov could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer with a return to Russia looking the likeliest option.

The 27-year-old has struggled to assert himself with the Blues this season and generally failed to live up to sky-high expectations since his switch to Chelsea from CSKA Moscow in 2009.

Now, with the Blues set to revamp their side in the summer, Zhirkov could well be set for a move back to his homeland.

Interest from Spartak Moscow in Zhirkov’s services is already strong and a switch to the Valery Karpin-led club looks a distinct possibility. However, a move from former side CSKA Moscow cannot be ruled out as the army club are monitoring the situation.
