Napoli are keen to keep hold of striker Edinson Cavani this summer as interest in the Uruguay star grows.

Cavani has been in lethal form in this season’s Serie A and is one of the main reasons Napoli have been able to mount a title push. President Aurelio De Laurentiis however is keen to ensure that this does not result in Cavani’s departure, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both linked with a summer swoop for the player.

The 24-year-old is Serie A’s current top goalscorer with 26 to his name and is under contract until 2015 at the San Paolo, earning €1.8M per year.

De Laurentiis though is prepared to offer Cavani a one-year extension which would take his annual pay to €3M, but also crucially insert a €50M buy-out clause.
