New Roma owner Thomas DiBenedetto has identified the position of goalkeeper as one that instantly needs strengthening and will move to bring in a top class number 1 this summer.
And reports from the Italian capital suggest DiBenedetto has narrowed his primary choice down to two – Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon and Udinese’s Samir Handanovic.
While the Giallorossi would love to swoop for Buffon and such a signing would serve as a statement of intent for the new DiBenedetto regime, there remain serious question marks over whether the Italy star is prepared to quit Turin.
Udinese keeper Handanovic appears a more realistic target and it is believed that the southern Italian club will accept a bid of around €8M for the Slovenia star.
