Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admits his side have a lucky win to thank for keeping them in the Premier League title race. The Blues won 2-1 against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday thanks to a Frank Lampard goal which did not appear to have crossed the line and a late Saloman Kalou strike which looked offside.

Spurs had taken the lead in an entertaining encounter when Brazilian midfielder Sandro smashed a superb half-volley past Chelsea keeper Petr Cech from 25 yards after 19 minutes. A controversial leveller from Lampard on the stroke of half time, combined with Kalou’s goal with just a minute left to play, ensured Chelsea remained in the title race.

"We would have liked to win this game with a different situation", said Ancelotti.

"We were lucky. We have to be honest and say this. We have to accept we were lucky."

Chelsea can now head to Old Trafford to face league leaders Manchester United next weekend in good heart, with a very real possibility of overhauling Sir Alex Ferguson’s side at the death this season.
