Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is sure his players will get their reward for working hard day in day out – but isn’t yet sure what that reward will be. The Reds demolished Newcastle 3-0 in the Premier League yesterday, a victory which, combined with Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat at Chelsea, saw the side move into the all-important fifth spot, a place which guarantees Europa League football.

Goals from Maxi Rodriguez, Dirk Kuyt (penalty) and Luis Suarez ensured that Andy Carroll’s first meeting against his old club went Liverpool’s way and with Spurs still to play before the season is out, Dalglish’s side could make Europe.

"We’ll just keep going and see where we get", said the Liverpool boss post-match.

"It’s great reward that we’ve got to where we are in this particular moment in time and it’s because of the way the players work.

"They do ever so well in training and bring that onto the pitch. The passing and movement has been even better than what it was today, but the determination and effort was the same as it has been in most of the games, so they’ll get their reward if they keep doing that – but we won’t know what that reward is until the end."

Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Fulham next Monday night.
