Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was unconcerned by his side’s 1-0 defeat at Arsenal yesterday. It was a result which allowed Chelsea to sit just three points behind United in the Premier League table in advance of the Blues’ trip to Old Trafford to face Ferguson’s side next weekend. But the United boss sent out a confident message post-match, commenting: "we’ll be alright."
Arsenal took the lead through Aaron Ramsey in the 56th minute, while United were annoyed to be denied a penalty late on after Michael Owen was clearly bundled down by Gael Clichy. However, Gunners’ fans could point to a blatant Nemanja Vidic handball earlier in the game which seemed a clear penalty too, but was not given.
Ferguson though instantly looked onwards and upwards, promising changes ahead of United’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Schalke on Wednesday.
"Wednesday’s a European semi-final second leg and then we’ve got the game on Sunday [vs Chelsea]. They’re two massive games", Ferguson told MUTV.
"We’ll regroup and get them freshened up. I’ll make some changes, without question, on Wednesday.
"We’ll bring Paul Scholes back in. Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, fresh players. We need to do that but, also, I’ve probably got to keep experienced players at the back. We’ll be alright."
