Reports from Turkey suggest Besiktas are edging closer towards agreeing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.

The Black Eagles had previously admitted that the figures needed to close a deal for the Uruguay star were too rich for them to stomach, but nevertheless confirmed they would continue speaking to the Spanish side. And now Atletico look to have lowered their demands and Forlan himself appears willing to take a pay cut.

From wanting a fee of €12M for the striker, Atletico are thought to now be willing to settle for just €3-4M and Forlan, who earns €4.5M per year in the Spanish capital, is being offered €3.7M a year in Istanbul.

There still looks to be some way to go to close the deal and, if Atletico have indeed cut their asking price by €8M, there will surely be no shortage of other interested parties who believe a move for Forlan is worth pursuing.
