Serie A side Lazio are ready to enter the race for Queens Park Rangers’ attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt. The Rome club are looking to boost their squad for next season’s campaign and believe they may be able to convince the 21-year-old that a switch to Italy would be the perfect move.

The Moroccan, who has been outstanding in QPR’s promotion push to the Premier League from England’s second tier the Championship, is set to be the subject of a fierce transfer auction this summer after the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus were all reported to be watching his progress closely.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio are ready to jump in with a €14M bid, which they hope QPR would accept and which would allow them to do a quick deal for Taarabt. The Rome club are well aware that they could not compete in a transfer auction given the deep pockets of other interested parties.

Under contract with QPR until 2013, the London club are still hopeful of persuading Taarabt that his future lies at Loftus Road and believe themselves in a good position to resist the player’s suitors.
