Fiorentina are ready to join the race for highly rated Lille forward Gervinho. The Ivory Coast man is believed to have rejected the chance to extend his deal with the northern France club, even though Lille look set to win this year’s Ligue 1 title.

This news has already piqued the interest of a number of sides who have been watching Gervinho closely. Aston Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal have already been alerted to the forward’s potential availability in the summer, with Lille keen to cash in rather than watch the 23-year-old’s value dwindle.

Now Fiorentina too are taking an interest and believe Gervinho would be open to the possibility of a switch to Serie A. With the Ivorian’s contract expiring in 2012, La Viola are also confident that he would not represent an expensive option.
