Arsenal’s Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is thought to have been sounded out by Bayern Munich over a possible move to the Allianz Arena.
The forward is known to be dissatisfied with the amount of playing time he has received under Arsene Wenger and is expected to push for a move in the summer unless he receives assurances from the Frenchman that he will be counted upon more often in the 2011/12 campaign.
A number of clubs have run the rule over Bendtner this season, including Serie A duo AC Milan and Lazio, and Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga rivals Hamburg. Indeed, the club Chelsea general manager Frank Arnesen is due to join this summer are thought to be determined to snare the Dane.
However, the entry of Bayern Munich into the race will surely delight Bendtner. A club comparable to Arsenal and one that looks set to enjoy Champions League football next season, the Allianz Arena outfit can be considered amongst the leading sides in Europe – a place Bendtner believes he should be plying his trade.
How much the German giants might offer for the 23-year-old remains unclear, but if Bendtner pushes for a move then Gunners boss Wenger will surely consent to his wish.
