Following Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United yesterday, a loss which practically rules the Blues out of the Premier League title race, speculation has once again begun over Carlo Ancelotti’s future.
The Italian is not expected to survive a summer of recriminations at Stamford Bridge as the club study closely why their Premier League and Champions League campaigns were not a success.
However, when Ancelotti departs Chelsea he is expected to have a number of options and his stock within his native Italy remains high.
In particular Roma, under the new ownership of Thomas DiBenedetto, are considered to be the frontrunners in the race for Ancelotti, especially given that the Giallorossi’s other preferred option, Andre Villas Boas, looks set to remain with FC Porto for next season.
