Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin, who has agreed a switch to Real Madrid, has revealed he could not let an opportunity to join the Spanish giants slip by.

Los Blancos officially announced the move yesterday with the confirmation that Sahin would sign a six-year deal with the club, putting an end to much speculation over the Turkish international.

And from Sahin’s point of view, despite just winning the Bundesliga with Dortmund and having Champions League football to look forward to at the Ruhr club, he could not miss the chance to join Jose Mourinho’s white revolution.

"I am very grateful to Borussia Dortmund", said Sahin, "but this was an opportunity I could not let slip.

"I didn’t choose Real Madrid for money. I chose it because it’s the greatest club in the world. It’s impossible to say no to its history and current project.

"Jose Mourinho convinced me immediately. We met here in Dortmund one day. He is one of the best coaches in the world and I’m dying to work with him. It will be a great challenge."
