Auxerre’s Polish striker Ireneusz Jelen looks set to be the subject of a heated transfer battle this summer, with Borussia Dortmund the latest club to express an interest in the 30-year-old.
Jelen is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer and will not be short of options, with a whole host of clubs having run the rule over the Poland star.
Indeed, under contract until 2012, Auxerre will be keen to realise the largest fee possible for their talented forward, and should do all they can to encourage an auction.
Dortmund feel Jelen could be a worthwhile addition as they plot the defence of their Bundesliga title next season combined with Champions League football. However, the Germans will face much competition.
Monaco, Rubin Kazan and Olympiacos are also interested in the Auxerre striker, while Dortmund’s bitter rivals Schalke have been linked with a move.
