Former Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal is being considered by Juventus for next season and there have been exploratory talks between the two parties according to reports from Italy.
Van Gaal exited the Allianz Arena before the end of the current season after Bayern began to look in danger of missing out on the Champions League – the Dutchman’s contract was due to expire in 2012.
Juventus meanwhile are expected to sack Luigi Delneri in the summer following the former Sampdoria coach’s failure to guide the Bianconeri back to the promised land of Champions League football.
And despite Van Gaal stressing upon leaving Bayern that he wished to take a year out of the game to recharge his batteries, Corriere dello Sport report that tentative talks between Juventus and Van Gaal’s agent have taken place as the Old Lady bid to find out whether the Dutchman would consider coming to Turin in the summer.
Van Gaal’s is not the only name under consideration within the club however, with Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri still a favoured candidate, while Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti and Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could interest Juventus should they become available.
