Former Barcelona midfielder Phillip Cocu could make a return to the Camp Nou in a coaching capacity according to reports from the Catalan capital.
The 40-year-old is reported to be being considered for the position of coach of Barcelona’s B team. It is a high profile job and one which can, as evidenced by former B team boss Josep Guardiola’s rise, lead to the senior team in time.
Cocu was a popular figure at Barcelona and his return would surely be welcomed. The Dutchman appeared for the club between 1998 and 2004 and was regarded as a calming influence in midfield.
Since that time Cocu has entered coaching, first as assistant manager with the Dutch national team and then holding the same job at another of his former clubs PSV Eindhoven.
