Barcelona clinched their third La Liga title in a row last night after taking the point they required from their meeting with Levante. The match ended 1-1, but it was enough to ensure that Real Madrid could not overhaul the Catalans and Barcelona were celebrating yet another piece of silverware.

The victory also brought about a sense of relief for Josep Guardiola’s men, who now believe they can begin to prepare for their meeting with Manchester United in the Champions League final on 28th May. A last few gruelling La Liga weeks could have taken their toll.

"We have worked hard against a strong rival in [Real] Madrid", said Lionel Messi. "Now is the time to celebrate it."

And goalkeeper Victor Valdes believes that this La Liga is the most difficult he has won thus far.

"We have fought as hard as we can and we deserve it", commented the keeper. "It has been a difficult year and the fans know that. Today we can celebrate to the maximum. It has been a hard-fought title and now is the time for celebrations.

"It has been very hard. Of the ones I’ve won I’d say this has been the hardest of all."

And for Javier Mascherano the victory was proof of how much the side want success. "This title shows how hungry the team is", said the midfielder.
