Real Madrid are negotiating with Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop according to the club’s chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The Turkish international’s contract at the Allianz Arena is due to expire at the end of the season, therefore the 28-year-old is free to move on from Bayern without a fee – and it is this fact which has undoubtedly attracted Los Blancos’ interest.
And while Bayern cannot stand in Altintop’s way, Rummenigge is grateful Real Madrid have been open with the German club about their talks.
"Real Madrid have an interest in him, that is right", said Rummenigge to Die Welt.
"My colleagues from Real Madrid have told me about it, though it wasn’t necessary."
Altintop would be Real Madrid’s second Turkish signing of the summer, following the recently completed move of Nuri Sahin to the Bernabeu.
