Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has warned that his side face a battle against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tomorrow and believes Harry Redknapp’s team have become a victim of their own success.
The Reds can secure fifth spot in the Premier League if they can beat Spurs; it is a feat that would cap a truly remarkable turnaround since Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson in January this year.
But the Liverpool manager has told his players to expect a test.
"We know it’s a huge test against Spurs", Dalglish told Liverpool’s official site.
"They have been punished for their success this year. They’ve had too many games and have been competing in too many competitions. That’s unfortunate for them, but it’s a measure of their success that they’ve gone that close [to the top four]. So it’s going to be a tough game."
Whatever happens tomorrow though, Dalglish wants his players to be judged on what they have done since January and not just on the last two games of the season.
"Our boys won’t be judged by what happens on Sunday though. They should be judged by what has happened since January. They’ve been an absolute credit to the football club since then", commented the Scot.
