Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku, a target for both Chelsea and Manchester City this summer, has confirmed he will play abroad next season said he is looking forward to plying his trade in a bigger league.

The 18-year-old Belgium international is expected to leave Anderlecht this summer, providing a bid in excess of €20M lands at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, and this is a figure Chelsea and City will have no trouble meeting. Arsenal and Real Madrid are also sides that have been linked with Lukaku.

And playing abroad it is not a prospect that is giving Lukaku sleepless nights in Brussels. On the contrary, the powerful forward is looking forward to testing himself in a more competitive championship with relish.

"I first wanted to play at Anderlecht to make progress", explained Lukaku to Voetbal International.

"But I’m very ambitious. I look forward to a bigger league where there are better teams, better players and better coaches. I know I might not immediately be in the team at a big club, but occasionally I will get a few minutes to show what I can do."

And the Belgian believes that the 2011/12 campaign will be a crucial point in his playing career.

"At my next club I will be surrounded by winners, and then I will feel at home.

"When I play abroad next season, it will be a decisive year for me."
