West Ham have sacked manager Avram Grant after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Hammers lost 3-2 away to Wigan earlier today to rule out any chance of survival in the English top flight. Leading 2-0 through two Demba Ba strikes, Grant’s side went in leading comfortably at half time and looked set to take their battle to stay up to the final day.
But Wigan struck back, scoring three times in the second 45 minutes, the winner coming in the 94th minute with just six second left to play.
And West Ham have moved quickly to relieve Grant of his duties, despite one final game to play at home to Sunderland next weekend.
"The club can confirm that Avram Grant is no longer the manager of West Ham", read a statement on the club’s website.
"First team coach Kevin Keen will take charge of the team for the final home match of the season against Sunderland on Sunday 22nd May."
