Turkish giants Galatasaray are keen on Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander, though appreciate they will have to beat off stiff opposition from Italy to get their man.

The Istanbul club have suffered a wretched season in the Super Lig, hovering closer to the relegation places than challenging bitter rivals Fenerbahce for the title. It is a situation Galatasaray are desperate not to repeat next season as they bid to claw themselves back up to their traditional role of fighting at the top of the table.

And Elmander is one player the Turkish side believe could help in that task.

Out of contract with Bolton at the end of the season, the 29-year-old striker is tipped to leave the Reebok Stadium. His availability has alerted a clutch of sides, and several Serie A clubs are interested in taking the Swede to Italy.

Galatasaray are also pondering a swoop for Elmander’s countryman Kim Kallstrom. The 28-year-old is under contract with Lyon until 2012, but a reasonable bid is thought to be enough to tempt the Ligue 1 side to part with the midfielder.
