Benfica are thought to have made an offer of €12M for Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez.
The Portuguese giants are desperate to overhaul bitter rivals FC Porto and take the title next season and believe that the Argentine striker could go some way towards helping them make that goal a reality.
Lopez has experience of Portuguese football, having played for FC Porto between 2005 and 2009 before making a big-money move to Lyon.
The French side may decide the time has come in to cash in on the player, although they are likely to ask Benfica to nudge their offer upwards before considering it.
