Brazilian side Botafogo are hoping to win the race for the signature of veteran midfielder Clarence Seedorf, counting on the player’s desire to live in Brazil.

Seedorf is out of contract with AC Milan at the end of this season and looks set to end his long association with the Rossoneri.

The Dutchman recently revealed that he has received six offers, and it appears as many as three may have come from Brazil, with Corinthians, Flamengo and now Botafogo all interested.

And Brazilian clubs are counting on the fact that Seedorf’s wife is Brazilian to seal the deal.

"Botafogo are counting on the desire of the player to play and live in Rio", explained the club’s president Mauricio Assumpcao to Globo TV.

"Seedorf is married to a Brazilian and has a house in Rio. We already have a marketing plan ready to meet our requirements and those of the player."

The Dutchman though still looks to have not made up his mind and the race for his signature this summer is sure to be a fierce one.
