Diego Forlan’s agent has denied that his client has fielded an offer from Besiktas, despite chatter growing that the Turkish club are closing on a deal for the 31-year-old.

The Uruguayan striker has long been a target of the Black Eagles, although last month the Turkish side looked to have been scared off by Atletico Madrid’s asking price and Forlan’s personal terms.

But according to Daniel Bolottnikoff, Besiktas have not been in touch.

"I have never had any contact with Besiktas and rumours about the possible transfer of Diego to Turkey are not correct", Bolottnikoff told Spanish daily AS.

"We will discuss his future at the end of the season."
