Racing Genk clinched the Belgian league title last night by virtue of a draw against Standard Liege.

Genk had finished level on points with Standard in the Belgian league’s playoff round, but when the total number of points from the regular season were rounded out, it was Racing who had the higher average total, giving them the title.

It is Genk’s third Belgian title after victories in 1999 and 2002 and books a place in the all-important Champions League for the club.
