FC Porto won the Europa League last night after beating fellow Portuguese side Braga 1-0 in the final in Dublin. A header at the end of the first half from in-demand striker Falcao proved enough to separate the two sides and hand Porto a European trophy to go with their league title.
The victory means the Portuguese club stay on course to complete a remarkable treble, with the final of their domestic cup to come on Sunday, where they will face Guimaraes.
And for coach Andre Villas-Boas, the night was even more special as, at just 33 years old, he became the youngest manager to win a UEFA competition.
"I feel just a little sad, because the performance of the teams could have been better", reflected Villas-Boas after the triumph.
"Both felt the game a lot, but it’s not anything new in a final. SC Braga was always very aggressive, very compact as a unit and made our work very difficult.
"But there is great joy from winning the trophy and we’re close to a memorable time for all of us."
