Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has confirmed that there is a real possibility Alberto Aquilani will return to the club for next season.

The Italian has been on a year-long loan with Juventus after being deemed surplus to requirements by previous boss Roy Hodgson. However, despite impressing at the Bianconeri, the Italians are unwilling to pay the price previously stipulated in Aquilani’s loan agreement as needed to make the move permanent, some €16M.

Juventus have long hoped to be able to knock Liverpool’s price down, but Dalglish and co. have stood firm.

"There is a distinct possibility he could be back here", said Dalglish.

"He’s a quality player. He got off to a bad start here with his injuries and never really got going after missing pre-season. He went out on loan and has done very well over there.

"If he was to come back here, for me that would be like a new face coming in. I don’t know of any deadline, I wasn’t privy to the conversations that were had."
