Juventus have informed Luigi Delneri that he will be leaving the club after the final game of the Serie A season tomorrow. The 60-year-old has not lived up to expectations in Turin and was charged with delivering a Champions League berth – a task he has failed in.

"The club told me of their decision during the week", admitted Delneri.

"I hope it is the right choice. Good luck to whoever replaces me."

The favourite to replace Delneri next season is currently former Juventus midfielder Antonio Conte. The 41-year-old has led Siena to promotion to Serie A this season, with his side currently sitting second in Serie B.

Delneri has often been handed difficult assignments throughout his career, the most bizarre of which was a short spell at FC Porto in 2004, when he was given the job of replacing Jose Mourinho. The Italian lasted a matter of weeks before coming to the conclusion that following on from the current Real Madrid boss was mission impossible.
