Lille clinched France’s Ligue 1 title last night after a 2-2 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain and their success was hailed as "a fantastic story" by coach Rudi Garcia.

The title was Lille’s first since the 1953/54 season and only their third Ligue 1 title overall. All in all, it was a superb success for the northern France side which the Coupe de France won too, and one which at once had Garcia saluting the amazing achievement of his side.

"It’s a fantastic story. I highlight those who work with me and allowed the players to do the double. It is a really strong team, which gets along well, serving each other."

And Garcia explained that the overwhelming feeling was one of pride in Lille’s performance this season.

"There is a lot of pride", said the coach.

"We realised what we did after the Coupe de France final and even before arriving at the Stade de France stadium and seeing the colours of LOSC."
