Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed he expects there to be changes to the playing staff this summer at Anfield.

The Reds finished their Premier League season with a 1-0 away defeat at Aston Villa, despite benefiting from a resurgence under Kenny Dalglish, who was handed a three-year deal recently.

And despite the fact that a sixth place finish means no European football for Liverpool next season, the club still believe they can attract some of the top players in the world to Merseyside. Carragher himself expects changes too.

"I think we’ve got stuff to be positive about – although we’re slightly disappointed with the last couple of months", the veteran defender told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"We’re the same as the fans. We’d love to see ourselves going for top players and getting top players, but that’s down to the manager and who he decides is good enough to come in."

Carragher though is sure Dalglish will boost the squad in the summer and believes he will see new faces at Melwood when pre-season training begins.

"I’m sure there’ll be a few changes in the summer, as there is every year no matter how we’ll you’re doing. Hopefully we can do a lot better next season."
