Roma legend Francesco Totti has gone on record as stating he hopes Carlo Ancelotti is a candidate to take charge of the Giallorossi.

Ancelotti was sacked as Chelsea manager on Sunday, after the club lost 1-0 away to Everton in their final Premier League match. A finish of second in the Premier League and the quarter-finals of the Champions League was not enough for the Italian to keep his job, but Ancelotti, who has long been linked with Roma, could bounce back into the game immediately.

And Totti is hoping he will.

"I hope that after finishing his adventure with Chelsea, Ancelotti is among the eligible candidates for the Giallorossi bench", said the Roma icon.

Roma, under new owner Thomas DiBenedetto, have money to spend this summer and ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Ancelotti has often stated coaching Roma is one of his goals in management and he will surely be amongst the favourites to take over at the capital city club.

The Italian though is thought to have privately intimated that he may stay in English football if a suitable offer arrives.
