Barcelona star Lionel Messi has taken time out from his preparations for the Champions League final to lavish praise on Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, also known as "Chicharito".

The Argentine superstar believes that Hernandez is a superb player and he has not been surprised by his impact in his first season at Old Trafford, especially after watching the Mexican at close quarters during last summer’s World Cup.

"They are strong and talented across the pitch and they are really good in attack", Messi said to France Football when talking about the threat United pose.

"If I had to choose one player from their group it would be Chicarito", continued the Argentine.

"He is in remarkable form. I discovered him at the World Cup, especially when he played against us. He is an attacker who moves all the time, fast, skillful, intelligent in his runs. I like him very much."

But Messi still took time out to mention Wayne Rooney, believing the England man and Hernandez have formed a deadly partnership up front.

"Obviously I do not forget Rooney, who is somewhat in that same role in that he falls back a little. These two form a very dangerous pair of attackers."
