Manchester United’s Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov has played down talk that he could be set to exit Old Trafford this summer.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player is not a first choice pick up front, with Sir Alex Ferguson preferring a partnership between Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez. This has seen the £30M signing relegated to the bench, although he still managed 21 Premier League goals in perhaps his best ever season in a United shirt.
But Berbatov will not quit the Red Devils just because he has lost his place in the team.
"I have a contract for another year and I’m going nowhere", explained Berbatov.
"I contributed to the historic 19th title for United and will be there when we pick up the 20th. That’s my plan.
"I’m the luckiest guy in our team, because I am a champion and top scorer."
Whether the United hierarchy agree with Berbatov however, who could leave Old Trafford for free in 12 months time, remains to be seen.
