Malaga believe they are closing in on the signature of veteran Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The 34-year-old striker is leaving Bundesliga side Hamburg and has fielded a number of offers from interested parties. The Dutchman was a target for Real Madrid last January and was keen to answer their striker SOS, but Hamburg would not allow him to depart for one of his former clubs.
However, Van Nistelrooy still believes he has what it takes for another season in one of Europe’s top leagues and a return to La Liga is appealing for the striker.
Malaga, under Manuel Pellegrini, believe that the signs are positive after speaking to the Dutchman.
"It looks good", said Malaga director Antonio Fernandez.
"We have no final agreement yet, but Van Nistelrooy has told us that he has confidence in the direction in which we at Malaga are heading."
Backed by the money of Sheikh Al-Thani, the Spanish side have invested heavily in their side and have big plans for the future. Van Nistelrooy therefore will have certainly been made a lucrative offer.
