Manchester United full back Patrice Evra has called on his team-mates to make sure Barcelona see the real Manchester United when the two face each other in the Champions League final on Saturday.
The clash is a repeat of the 2009 final in Rome, an occasion Barcelona strolled to a 2-0 win in. And Evra admits that he could not work out why United did not show their true faces in that final, playing only like a shadow of themselves.
It is something the Frenchman is keen not to repeat at Wembley and he has replayed the final in his head many times since.
"I’m looking forward to the game, but I don’t want to look back on it with regret and frustration again", Evra told United’s official site.
"I respect Barcelona a lot and what they did in Rome when they beat us 2-0. But on my holiday all I kept thinking was why didn’t we play like Manchester United? Why didn’t we show our best?
"At the beginning of the game we dominated the first ten minutes, but when we conceded the first goal that was it. 2009 was a big, big frustration and I don’t want to experience a feeling like that again."
