The race for out-of-favour Wolfsburg midfielder Diego is gathering pace as club after club target the 26-year-old.
Diego will leave Wolfsburg this summer, having failed to produce the goods in a poor season for the Bundesliga side and also angering manager Felix Magath for snubbing a spot on the substitutes bench against Hoffenheim.
Such is the extent to which Wolfsburg want to ship out the creative midfielder, that his price has been lowered from €15M to €10M.
And this has attracted no shortage of suitors.
Leading the pack are Premier League giants Liverpool, with manager Kenny Dalglish believing Diego could add a vital creative spark to a side which the Scot felt lacked the know-how to open up defences at times last season.
From Brazil, Botafogo are keen to take Diego back to his homeland, while Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon are another team monitoring developments. Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Lazio too have also been linked with a swoop.
Diego looks set to have his pick of clubs this summer if, as expected, a raft of sides meet Wolfsburg’s asking price.
