Despite the player himself insisting a transfer to Manchester United is not done and dusted, Atletico Madrid still expect their goalkeeper David de Gea to head to Old Trafford.

Monday is considered to be D-Day in United’s pursuit of De Gea, with Atletico happy to accept a fee of €20M for their 20-year-old. It simply remains for the Spaniard to iron out his personal terms and signing-on fee with the English club.

And despite De Gea insisting nothing is done yet, Atletico director general Miguel Angel Gil Marin is sure the keeper is on the brink of leaving.

“My feeling is that he will go to United”, Marin told Radio Marca.

“We made him an offer for six years to increase his salary, but we have heard nothing. With De Gea and his mother, it seems they will not accept.”

De Gea will surely be an interested observer when United meet Barcelona in tomorrow’s Champions League final and could soon join up with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
