Bayer Leverkusen are determined not to sell talented Chilean star Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich despite the Allianz Arena side showing serious interest in the 24-year-old.
Vidal has shone in the Bundesliga this season and the midfielder has begun to attract attention.
Speculation about a move to Bayern began almost as soon as the Munich-based side snapped up this season’s Bayer Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes for the 2011/12 campaign, with the veteran German manager having witnessed Vidal’s quality at close range.
However, Leverkusen are not willing to part with the player they signed from Colo-Colo in 2007.
"We won’t let him move to Bayern Munich", said Leverkusen’s president Wolfgang Holzhauser.
"I am aware of their interest, but why should we strengthen one of our rivals?"
Leverkusen may have to reject a big-money bid from Bayern in order to finally put the final nail in the coffin of their interest, with Heynckes thought to have told the FC Hollywood board to sign Vidal at all costs.
