Lionel Messi’s goal in the Champions League final against Manchester United last night saw the Argentine continue to make up ground in the all-time top scorers list in the competition.
His strike, the 12th in nine games, also saw Messi draw level with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of the most goals in a Champions League season; Van Nistelrooy managed his feat in the 2002/03 edition.
Just 23 years old, the Argentine has time enough to climb further up the goalscorers table.
