Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has stated his belief that the current Reds side have yet to fulfil their potential.
The Slovakian international joined Liverpool in 2008 from Russian side Zenit, but has yet to win a single honour with the Merseyside club; the only silverware Skrtel has won is the 2007 Russian Premier League title.
But the 26-year-old believes that the current Liverpool crop, despite only finishing sixth this season and consequently missing out on European football, have it within themselves to become a great side.
"I really think we have a great team and I am lucky to be with these lads", Skrtel told Liverpool’s official site.
"We didn’t fulfil our potential yet and I believe we can do it very soon.
"But I would like to make our fans happy and proud again so I can promise them that we will do our best in the next season."
Liverpool look set to make significant forays into the summer transfer market under now-permanent manager Kenny Dalglish. The Scot is thought to have up to £50M to spend in an effort to break into the top four.
