Bundesliga club Schalke have been linked with a move for Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
The Ruhr giants will lose their current number 1 Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich this summer and are deep in thought over just who could replace the German shot-stopper.
And Palermo man Sirigu is a name that has popped onto their list for consideration.
The 24-year-old, who stands six foot three inches tall, has recently made the breakthrough at international level, making two appearances for Italy last year. He was also in then-coach Marcello Lippi’s initial 28-man squad for the 2010 World Cup, although he did not survive the final cut.
Sirigu would not come cheap if Schalke do decide to firm up their interest, with the keeper under contract with the Serie A side until 2014.
