Rafael van der Vaart has expressed his happiness at Tottenham Hotspur, but believes it is essential the club sign a 20-goal a season striker this summer in order to compete at the top of the Premier League.
The Dutchman has had a superb first season in England football since his transfer deadline day move to Spurs last summer and, despite missing out on qualifying once again for the Champions League, has declared himself happy.
"I had a good feeling being back in my first year", said Van der Vaart to AD.
"I have a total of 36 matches, scored 15 goals and made ten assists."
Van der Vaart also believes he made the right choice in swapping Real Madrid for Spurs, with a good atmosphere surrounding the club.
"I think so. Everything you notice at the club is that it’s a family. That suits me. My little son was once looking and running on the pitch. They all did fine, at Real that was unthinkable."
For next season though, the Dutchman is sure that Spurs must bring in a prolific striker in order to compete, believing that the fact he ended the campaign as top scorer says it all.
"It would be with a lot of care if we get a striker who scores 20.
"Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have 20-goal players in spades. I, as an attacking midfielder, was club top scorer, that says enough."
