The FIFA Congress has re-elected Sepp Blatter for another four-year term as president.

Blatter was the only name on the ballot paper following Mohamed Bin Hammam’s decision to pull out of the race in the wake of bribery allegations. The 75-year-old Swiss garnered 186 votes from the 203 member associations.

The FIFA boss used his acceptance speech to promise change at the organisation with corruption allegations surrounding football’s governing body.

"I thank you for your trust and confidence from the bottom of my heart. Our pyramid is intact, the base, the foundation is strong and together we have four years to continue on our path and do our job", said Blatter.

"We will put FIFA’s ship back on the right course in clear, transparent waters. We need some time to do it, but we shall do it."
