Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has confirmed that he is leaving Manchester United after not receiving the first team opportunities he feels he is due.
The 29-year-old served as understudy to Dutchman Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford, but hoped that given the former Ajax keeper’s retirement at the end of the season, he would be handed the responsibility to succeed to the number 1 spot. However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is advanced in his moves for another goalkeeper to come in, meaning Kuszczak is disappointed.
"I would like to play regularly", explained the Pole, "having the opportunity to do my best and be in good shape.
"In the last years, I didn’t have this opportunity and honestly I don’t know what will happen in the future."
But the keeper is hoping that a stay in the Premier League may be a possibility, explaining that it is a competition he loves, even if he is open to new challenges.
"I love the Premier League and I know it very well. I have been playing here for seven years and enjoyed it, but I am open to other possibilities."
