Barcelona are eyeing up AC Milan defender Thiago Silva as they look to boost their defence for next season.
The Catalans were forced to deploy midfielders Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano in central defence at points last season, with the Argentine even taking the role in the Champions League final against Manchester United.
Coach Josep Guardiola is determined that such a situation should not arise in the next campaign and the Camp Nou side are prepared to splash the cash on Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian defender has been impressive in Milan’s capturing of the Scudetto and some sections of the Rossoneri support have even begun to draw comparisons with legendary Italian stopper Franco Baresi.
Milan would be expected to fight to keep hold of Thiago Silva and his price tag can be sure to be in excess of €25M. Barcelona are also thought to be considering throwing in defender Maxwell as part of the deal in order to smooth negotiations with the Italians.
