New West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has explained he expects the club to bounce back up to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The Hammers were relegated last season and will spend the 2011/12 campaign playing in England’s second tier, the Championship. But in the ex-Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United manager they have snared someone of vast experience.

"It’s a fantastic club with a great tradition and loyal supporters", said Allardyce.

"I wouldn’t have taken this job if I didn’t think we could bounce straight back into the Premier League."

The 56-year-old is thought to have agreed a deal with a basic salary as low as £1M per year, but with a substantial bonus if he can guide West Ham to promotion next season.

"It’s a challenge for me to use my experience to get them back in the Premier League as quickly as possible. It’s a very exciting prospect for me and one I’m very much looking forward to", concluded Allardyce.
