Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov has dismissed talk he could leave Manchester United this summer, despite admitting to feeling embarrassed at being snubbed for the Champions League final at Wembley.
Berbatov was not even amongst the substitutes against Barcelona, pipped to that spot by Michael Owen. It was a strange fate to befall a striker with 20 goals in the Premier League last season to his name, and the Bulgarian could not even bring himself to sit in the stands to watch the game.
"To be honest, I was in the dressing room. I watched the final from there", Berbatov told 24 Chasa.
"This was embarrassing for me – that I was not included in the group. I didn’t want people to see the pain in my eyes."
However, while the natural reaction of an ambitious, hungry striker might be to seek pastures new due to the snub, Berbatov is determined that he will remain at Old Trafford and convince manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he is worth his place.
"I will remain at United.
"I will fight for my place and I will fight for title number 20.
"If I was a man who gave up easily, I would never be here in the first place."
