Turkish giants Galatasaray are eyeing up an audacious move for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Despite the Italian shot-stopper stating several times throughout the past year that he does not wish to leave Turin and will not be moving, Galatasaray’s president Unal Aysal has targeted the Italy international.

The Istanbul club endured a miserable season in the Turkish Super Lig, falling way behind rivals and ultimate title winners Fenerbahce. The pressure for change and big names therefore at the Turk Telekom Arena has grown, and Aysal hopes to answer it with Buffon.

"I have big plans for my club this summer", said the Galatasaray supremo.

"One of the top players I want to sign is Gianluigi Buffon.

"I am already in touch with Juventus and I am hoping we can start negotiating soon.

"I hope to strike a deal, but I have other options too."

The other options for Galatasaray are believed to be Fiorentina’s Sebastian Frey, Espanyol shot-stopper Carlos Kameni and Monaco keeper Stephane Ruffier.
