Following the news that Juventus had begun to make discreet enquiries with Real Madrid over Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, the player’s father and manager has politely refused to consider a move for his son to Turin.

Higuain made great progress at the Bernabeu in the first half of the season, before suffering an injury which ruled him out for months after Christmas, but Jose Mourinho still considers him a starting striker for the 2011/12 La Liga campaign.

A move to Juventus though, does not appeal according to Jorge Nicolas Higuain.

"We are honoured by the interest from Juventus, one of the top clubs in Europe.

"But no one at Real has said they will sell Gonzalo.

"And my son has no intention of abandoning his team."

Juventus, desperately searching for a new striker, could yet take Higuain’s team-mate Karim Benzema to Turin.
